Job Task Analysis
A Job Safety Analysis (JSA) or Job Task Analysis (JTA) helps to identify and mitigate risks in your workplace.
Understanding the specific physical demands of the tasks your employees perform as part of their daily workplace duties is the first step in preventing workplace injuries from occurring. Once you understand these physical demands, it is then possible to design and implement safer work practices that help to minimise the accumulation of specific physical stressors experienced by your workforce.
That is what a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) or Job Task Analysis (JTA) achieves.
What is a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) / Job Task Analysis (JTA)?

A JSA or JTA (used interchangeably) is a comprehensive breakdown of the physical demands of a specific workplace task. It involves observation of the specific task being performed by an employee, and examination of the physical requirements needed to perform that task.

How do you use a JSA or JTA?

This information collected as part of a Job Safety Analysis / Job Task Analysis can then be documented and used to:

-
Identify the inherent requirements of a role;
-
Develop pre-employment screening tests that are specific to your workplace duties;
-
Prevent injuries and manage fatigue; and
-
Determine suitable workplace duties for return-to-work.

What about a Job Dictionary?

Whereas a JSA / JTA is the analysis of a specific task, a Job Dictionary is the compilation of all JSA's to develop a manual, or dictionary, of all physical tasks performed by staff.

Job Dictionaries are important for organisations where there are a variety of physical tasks performed by employees.
